40
Years Ago, The Apollo Program and the Planetarium
Has it really been 40 years ago since Neil Armstrong and
Buzz Aldrin walked on the moon? It was July 20th, 1969. This planetarium
opened 44 days after that, on September 2, 1969. This month we'll celebrate
both of these historic events as we see early planetarium and NASA imagery.
We'll also have on display some of the equipment used in our planetarium
all those years ago.
On Wednesday, July 1st, Tuesday, July 7th, and again on
Thursday, July 30th telescopes will be set up along the boardwalk at
24th street from 6pm to almost midnight for your celestial viewing pleasure.
Shown July 14, 21, & 28
Not shown July 7 because I'll be at the Boardwalk.
