The VBCPS Planetarium is a resource available to everyone.

Specializing in "edutainment", the planetarium located at Plaza Middle School off south Lynnhaven rd. in Virginia Beach is a facility equipped with the latest immersive dome projection technology suited for both educational instruction and full dome entertainment.

Planning a group visit to the planetarium is as easy as making a phone call (757-648-4940) or emailing the planetarium director (charlesf.dibbs@vbschools.com).

In addition to serving the students of Virginia Beach City Public Schools, the planetarium has a long history of serving the following groups:

Private schools, church groups, retirement communities, college students, scouting packs and troops, home school groups, day care facilities, parks and recreation groups, after school groups, and many, many more.

If coming to one of the advertised public shows does not fit your schedule or agenda, contact the planetarium to arrange for a specialized lesson. Generally, your group must be at least 20 in number to reserve time in the planetarium outside of a publicized show.

All groups must adhere to the following planetarium guidelines:

No food or drinks are permitted inside the planetarium.

Groups must arrive together and must be on time for a scheduled reservation. Your planetarium session may be cut short if we have to wait for late arrivals before beginning.

All light emitting devices must be cut off just before the planetarium presentation begins. This would include cell phones, ipads, game boys, and anything else that may distract other guests in the dark planetarium chamber.

All children must be accompanied by an adult or chaparone.

Entrance to the planetarium is $3 per person. Payment for your group can be made by cash or a check written out to Plaza Middle School before the presentation can begin. Credit cards will be accepted in the near future.
